Blue’s is a fast-casual dining concept with a menu based around authentic American smokehouse classics. We are on a constant quest for fun, outgoing, friendly and enthusiastic Pit Crew who want to be involved in a dynamic and constantly evolving organisation.
Situated next to the Curve Arts Centre in the Slough town centre, our next opening, Blue’s Slough, has a prime location and is timed to open at the beginning of the exciting Slough Regeneration programme, with a planned opening at the end of May 2016. We expect it to very quickly gain a reputation for good food, great service and a fantastic experience, much like our Bracknell and Twickenham outlets.
When positions open-up within our restaurants, our policy is ideally to promote from within. Our rapid growth however, means that we are offering you the chance to get in at the beginning for what could be your best career decision to date.
If you are serious about a career in the hospitality industry, Blue’s will offer you the chance to achieve accreditations through training, mentoring and skills development programmes. Subsequently for the right individuals there will be the chance to take their careers (and their pay packets) to the next level.
We are now recruiting for a Pit Crew team to tackle the following roles:
Working in a team led by a vastly experienced General Manager, you will ensure our guests are served consistently delicious drinks and a big smile to ensure they want to return time after time. Our drinks stock is broad and you’ll be expected to help customers with choices, suggest premium brands where appropriate and help us with every restaurateur’s goal of increasing sales through the force of your personality.
Ideally you will have experience in delivering first-class service in a bar, pub or restaurant, if you have cocktail-making skills even better.
Are you customer friendly, a quick learner with a willingness to get stuck-in and have fun? Are you committed to expanding your knowledge and experience to take your career to the next level?
If the answer is yes, we definitely need to have a chat.
So, you’ve got at least two years’ restaurant experience under your belt and you’re looking for a new challenge, something to take you on the next stage of your career. We need people like you to lead, mentor and direct a willing team of front-of-house crew under the guidance of the General Manager.
Your passion for good food and the hospitality industry is what we are looking for, plus your ability to translate exceptional delivery and service into tangible benefits to the bottom line.
You will be able to demonstrate high energy and performance levels and have the ability to show the leadership qualities that will help you advance. If you have proven organisation skills, are able to prioritise effectively and are flexible, then this could be the right ‘next-step’ for your career!
We’ll take someone with a bright personality, enthusiasm and a sense of fun, over experience every time. But if you combine a bit of both, you’re exactly the kind of person that we want to have in our team.
Our motto is “Arrive hungry | Leave happy” and generally speaking that’s how it works out. Our platters of BBQ Classics, Burgers, Southern Specials and lighter dishes are easy to sell and we expect you to do your part. We’ll teach you to encourage guests to; “try our amazing wings” or maybe “just one of the desserts” or how about “one of our delicious cocktails” to ensure that they get the best Blue’s experience ever and if you’re good at it, there’s a fast track just waiting for you.
Ideally you will have worked in a restaurant before but the important things are for you to have a desire to offer great service coupled with a vibrant personality. You should be passionate about good food combined with a willingness to learn and improve all the time.
The kitchen at Blue’s is busy, busy, busy. Customers don’t come to us for “Fine dining”, what they expect is “Mighty Fine Dining”- big platters of food, served fast, hot and dripping with flavour…
To thrive in this environment, you will have extensive experience of working in a fast-moving restaurant kitchen and be confident of delivering consistently high quality, well presented food under pressure.
Your duties will include directing team members in your section in the preparation, cooking, and presenting of our dishes; enforcing strict health and hygiene standards in the kitchen; and trouble-shooting any problems that may arise. You must be used to working in a modern kitchen with relevant experience of working with contemporary products and equipment.
You will be joining an ambitious and hard-working team with a determination to deliver food excellence. Another perk is the opportunity to work with and learn American BBQ techniques from Jackie Weight – the only non-American ever to win the prestigious Jack Daniels World BBQ Championship and a true celebrity in the BBQ world.
Working alongside the team of chefs to keep the kitchen clean, safe and hygienic, your duties will include unloading deliveries of food and other equipment to the kitchen; organising the storeroom; washing kitchen appliances, work surfaces, floors and walls. There will also be the opportunity to assist in preparing food before the restaurant opens. This entry level position provides the stepping stone for your career in catering and hospitality.
All successful applicants will have a love for good food, buckets of enthusiasm and the understanding that great service is the mainstay of a fantastic customer experience – something we want all our guests to have.
